Disruptive passenger restrained during flight
A passenger remains in critical condition after a serious incident aboard a Jet2 flight from Larnaca to Manchester, during which he was reportedly restrained by fellow passengers following alleged aggressive behaviour.
The incident occurred on flight LS966 on 21 June. According to passenger accounts, the man, believed to be in his 30s, had reportedly consumed a large amount of alcohol before boarding the aircraft.
During the flight, he was said to have argued with his partner before walking through the cabin shouting and causing disruption. Witnesses claimed he headbutted another passenger and threatened others on board.
Emergency after landing
Several passengers intervened and restrained the man until the aircraft landed at Manchester Airport shortly after 2:25am.
When police officers boarded the aircraft to respond to the incident, they found that the man was no longer breathing.
Officers immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while a defibrillator was also used in an effort to revive him.
Police investigation underway
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The man was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable but critical condition.
Jet2 said the flight had requested priority landing because of an incident involving a “disruptive passenger” and added that it would make no further comment while the investigation continues.
