Deep sorrow has followed the death of 29-year-old motorcyclist Dimitris Vasileiou, who lost his life in a fatal road collision on the Paphos–Limassol motorway in the early hours of Saturday, near the Agios Sylas exit.
According to police, the crash occurred at around 3:00 a.m. when, under circumstances that remain under investigation, the young rider’s motorcycle collided with the rear of a minibus being driven by a 57-year-old man.
The impact threw the 29-year-old onto the roadway, causing fatal injuries.
Following the collision, traffic police closed both lanes of the motorway for a considerable period while investigations and recovery operations were carried out at the scene.
Tributes have continued to pour in from friends, relatives and members of the local community mourning the loss of the young man.
In a social media post, the Panhellenic Apollon Supporters Association 1982 paid tribute to Dimitris by sharing a photograph of him alongside a heartfelt farewell message.
“Safe journey, brother Dimitris… One day we will meet again up there with all the lads in Gate One of Paradise,” the association wrote.
The message reflects the profound grief felt by those who knew him, as family, friends and supporters struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss of a young life.
