Warm weather with afternoon showers
Cyprus will see a mix of sunshine and cloud on Friday, with temperatures climbing to 34°C inland and isolated showers and thunderstorms expected later in the day.
According to the Meteorological Service, periods of increased cloud cover are forecast, with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing around midday and during the early afternoon, mainly over the mountains and inland areas.
Hail is also possible in stronger thunderstorms.
Southwesterly to northwesterly winds will be light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, temporarily strengthening to 4 to 5 Beaufort along the southern coast. The sea will be slight.
Temperatures will reach 34°C inland, 27°C on the west coast, around 31°C along the remaining coastal areas and 23°C in the higher mountains.
Mist and low cloud overnight
Tonight, periods of low cloud are expected, with patchy mist or fog forming in some areas.
Winds will become northwesterly to northeasterly at around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will remain calm to slight.
Temperatures will fall to 19°C inland, around 20°C along the coast and 14°C in the higher mountains.
Unsettled weekend forecast
Localised cloud is expected to develop at times over the weekend and on Monday, bringing isolated showers or thunderstorms, mainly across the mountains and inland regions during the afternoon.
Temperatures are forecast to rise gradually over the three-day period, climbing above the seasonal average.
