Possible Iran-US talks in Switzerland on Friday

Date:

Preliminary US-Iran talks are scheduled to take place on Friday in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, following the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran.

The announcement was made by the Swiss government, which confirmed that the meeting is being organised as part of early steps to implement the agreement.

Switzerland hosts key negotiations

According to the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the current plan is for the US-Iran talks to bring together representatives from both countries, along with mediators Pakistan and Qatar.

The discussions in Bürgenstock are expected to focus on the practical implementation of the ceasefire deal reached between the two sides.

The US-Iran talks are described as preliminary in nature, with officials stressing that the process remains in an early stage.

Changes to participation details

The Swiss statement also noted that a previous reference to the participation of “other involved countries” has been removed from the official wording.

At present, no additional information has been provided regarding the detailed agenda or the format of the meeting.

Authorities said further updates on the US-Iran talks are not currently available, and logistical details remain limited.

Early steps after ceasefire

The planned meeting comes shortly after a ceasefire agreement was reached between the United States and Iran, marking a significant development in efforts to de-escalate tensions.

Diplomatic sources indicate that the US-Iran talks in Switzerland are intended to establish the framework for implementing the agreement and managing its early stages.
