The House of Representatives plenary session convenes today at 9:30 am to approve the composition of parliamentary committees and elect members of the Special Parliamentary Ethics Committee for Members of Parliament.
The 16 parliamentary committees will remain unchanged, with each committee consisting of 12 MPs.
According to the Selection Committee’s decision, DISY and AKEL will each hold five committee chairmanships, while ELAM and DIKO will each take three.
Committee chairmanships allocated
DISY will chair the Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Health, Legal and Institutions Committees.
AKEL will lead the Interior, Labour, Agriculture, Refugees and Human Rights Committees.
ELAM will take over the Defence, Environment and Transport Committees, while DIKO will retain the chairmanships of the Finance, Education and Audit Committees.
Following lengthy discussions and several scenarios examined by the Selection Committee regarding the distribution of committee presidencies, final decisions on the names of committee chairs and committee members have now been completed.

• Legal Affairs – Fotini Tsiridou

• Agriculture – Giannakis Gavriel
• Labour – Giorgos Koukoumas
• Refugees – Nikos Kettiros
• Human Rights – Christos Christofides
DIKO:
• Audit – Zacharias Koulias
• Finance – Christiana Erotokritou
• Education – Chrysanthos Savvides
ELAM:
• Defence – Evgenios Hamboullas
• Environment – Linos Papagiannis
• Transport – Sotiris Ioannou
DISY also appointed Prodromos Alambritis as Deputy Parliamentary Representative, while Dimitris Demetriou remains Parliamentary Representative.
The new House is expected to deal with a broad agenda of pending and upcoming issues, with today’s process expected to proceed smoothly.
