The findings of a long-awaited investigation into claims made in Makarios Drousiotis’ book “Mafia State” are expected to be released today, following a two-year probe by Cyprus’ Anti-Corruption Authority.
Anastasiades to be informed first
Before issuing its detailed public announcement, the Authority will inform individuals who were examined during the investigation process, beginning with former President Nicos Anastasiades.
The investigation focused on allegations and references included in the book, aiming to determine whether claims presented by the author could be substantiated or rejected based on the evidence gathered during the process.
Two-year investigation completed
The probe lasted around two years and involved extensive collection of witness testimony and supporting material.
During the investigation, the Authority carried out 214 hearings and received 150 statements. Investigators also collected around 800 pieces of evidence, which formed the basis of the final report.
Findings expected later today
The conclusions of the investigation are expected to become public through the Authority’s official announcement later today.
