Pilot Course on AI, EU Security and Cooperation, in Larnaca

Ways through which Artificial Intelligence (AI) fosters cooperation in the field of security and defence in Europe, is the focus of a pilot course being organised in Larnaca this week by the Cyprus Security and Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence and the Diplomatic Academy of the University of Nicosia.

According to a press release by the Defence Ministry, the Artificial Intelligence, Security and Cooperation in the European Union Pilot Course is taking place in Larnaca between December 2 to 5.

The pilot Course is co-organised by the Cyprus Security and Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence and the Diplomatic Academy of the University of Nicosia under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) / European Doctoral School on CSDP, it said.

The Course, it adds, “is aligned with the EU’s commitment to the digital and AI agenda, as well as the troubling times through which peace, security, and stability are shaped by technological transformation and emerging technologies, this pilot course aims at identifying both practical and conceptual opportunities for doctoral researchers, practitioners, academics, and member-states officials through which Artificial Intelligence (AI) fosters cooperation in the field of security and defence in Europe”.

It notes that Ambassador (a.h.) Euripides Evriviades delivered a keynote speech in the presence of the Austrian Ambassador to Cyprus Dr. Susanne Bachfisher, Rectors and representatives of Frederick University, Open University and Limassol University and other members of Cyprus and international academic community.
