Former Metropolitan Bishop of Paphos: Tychikos, is determined to remain in Paphos until all legal proceedings have been concluded, according to a statement issued on June 5 by his legal representatives.
The statement says that Bishop Tychikos maintains full confidence in the justice system and intends to exhaust every available legal remedy before the courts of Cyprus and, if deemed necessary, before the European Court of Human Rights.
Through his lawyers, he also reserves all legal rights against individuals or media organisations that, he claims, publish defamatory information without first verifying the facts.
Particular reference is made to reports concerning his residence. According to the statement, the 65–70 square metre property was purchased by his family when, as claimed, there had been plans to remove him from premises belonging to the Metropolis during the period in which he served as Protosyngellos.
The statement further clarifies that the property is rented out and managed by his family, while he is currently residing in Paphos as a guest of a well-known local family.
“He will remain in Paphos until a final and irrevocable decision is issued by the courts of Cyprus and, if necessary, by the European Court of Human Rights,” the legal representation office of Bishop Tychikos stated.
