Rain and thunderstorms possible in southern and eastern areas
A weak low-pressure system and an unstable air mass continue to affect the region, according to the Meteorological Department.
Initially today, increased low cloud mainly affecting western areas may bring isolated showers.
By midday, weather conditions across most parts of the island are expected to become mainly clear with periods of cloud cover. However, clouds developing mainly in southern and eastern areas are expected to produce isolated showers or thunderstorms. Hail is also possible during thunderstorms.
Winds will blow southwesterly to northwesterly, generally moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, becoming temporarily strong to very strong in southern and eastern coastal areas during the afternoon at 5 to 6 Beaufort.
The sea will be slight to moderate.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 31C inland, 29C in the southeast and along the eastern coast, 25C in the southwest, west and northern coastal areas, and around 20C in the higher mountains.
Mainly clear conditions tonight
Tonight, conditions will become mainly clear, although periods of increased low cloud are expected locally.
Winds will be mainly downslope and light at 3 Beaufort.
The sea will remain slightly rough in western coastal areas, while elsewhere it will gradually become calm to slight.
Temperatures will fall to around 18C inland and along the southwest, west and northern coasts, around 20C in the southeast and east, and around 12C in the higher mountains.
Unsettled weather to continue through Monday
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, periods of increased cloud cover are expected.
During the afternoon, these clouds are likely to produce local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous areas, regions west and south of Troodos, and inland areas.
Temperatures to remain near seasonal averages
The Cyprus weather forecast indicates no significant change in temperatures over the coming days, with values expected to remain close to the seasonal average for this time of year.
