Kombos hosts EU and Ukraine ministers at Gymnich dinner

A dinner reception for EU Foreign Ministers will take place today, hosted by Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, as part of the informal EU Foreign Affairs Council (Gymnich) held in Limassol on 27–28 May under the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The meeting is co-chaired by Kombos and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

Ukraine and key partners invited

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, will also attend the gathering, alongside invited counterparts from India and Saudi Arabia.

India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud are also expected to participate in the discussions.

Focus on Ukraine war and regional security

According to an announcement by the Secretariat of the Cypriot EU Presidency and the Foreign Ministry, ministers will discuss current and regional developments with the invited partners, followed by talks on the war in Ukraine and ongoing Russian aggression.

The agenda also includes strategic initiatives on security and defence, including preparations for the new European Security Strategy.

The informal Gymnich meeting will take place at the Limassol Port on Thursday, with Kombos and Kallas expected to hold a joint press conference at the end of the discussions.
