Earthquake in Cyprus felt in Limassol

An earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was felt in the afternoon of Wednesday, with residents mainly reporting tremors in the Limassol area.

According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (CSEM EMSC), the earthquake in Cyprus was primarily felt in Limassol, with the epicentre located approximately 35 kilometres south of the city and around 97 kilometres southwest of Nicosia.

The seismic event had a focal depth of 8 kilometres, indicating relatively shallow underground activity.

Authorities and monitoring agencies continue to track seismic activity in the region, which is prone to frequent minor earthquakes due to its geological setting along the Eastern Mediterranean fault systems.
