A accident occurred on Monday in the “Makrinari” area of Kapileio community in the Limassol district, after a man was trapped in a hand-operated cultivator while working in an orchard.
According to official information, the incident took place at around 10:55am when emergency services received a call reporting that a person had sustained a leg injury after it became caught in farming equipment.
Fire Service launches rescue operation
Teams and rescue vehicles from the Cyprus Fire Service stations of Agios Ioannis Lochia Vasilis Krokos and Moniatis were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters carried out a technical rescue operation to free the trapped limb. They removed parts of the cultivator blades in order to safely release the injured man.
The incident highlights the dangers linked to a tractor accident in agricultural settings, particularly when working with manual or mechanical farming tools.
Hospital treatment after rescue
Once freed, the injured man was handed over to ambulance services and transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Limassol General Hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to monitor workplace and agricultural safety incidents across rural areas.
