Treasury steps into new digital era with Power BI

Date:

New era for public finance monitoring

The Treasury Office is entering a new digital era with the introduction of a modern data analysis and visualisation tool aimed at enhancing budget transparency in Cyprus.

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Accountant General of the Republic Andreas Antoniades said the new system strengthens fiscal monitoring and public accountability.

Power BI tool for public access

The new platform is based on Microsoft Power BI and allows citizens to track the implementation of the State Budget in real time.

It forms part of broader efforts for the digital transformation of public financial management, with a focus on transparency, efficiency and public trust.

The system provides open access to data from 2021 onwards, allowing users to analyse revenue and expenditure by year, month, category and government entity.

Officials said the initiative significantly improves budget transparency in Cyprus by giving citizens direct access to structured and up-to-date financial data.

Through interactive dashboards, users can compare planned and actual figures, monitor trends and evaluate fiscal performance against original projections.

The tool also enables analysis of deviations between budgeted and actual amounts, supporting more informed public understanding of state finances.

The platform is designed for the general public, not only specialists, offering an easy-to-use interface with dynamic filters and visual reports.

It allows users to explore fiscal data in a more accessible and interactive way, reinforcing accountability in public administration.

Available online

The Power BI tool is accessible via the official Treasury website at Microsoft Power BI integration, as well as through the General Accounting Office portal at www.gov.cy/treasury.

Officials say the initiative marks a key step forward in budget transparency and the modernisation of public financial reporting.
