A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing unsettled weather conditions in Cyprus, according to the Meteorology Department.
Today will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy at times, with a chance of isolated showers initially along coastal areas.
Rain and possible storms inland
By midday and later, developing cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers, with a chance of a thunderstorm, mainly in mountainous areas and parts of the eastern half of the island.
Winds will blow south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in western and southern coastal areas they may briefly strengthen to 4 to 5 Beaufort.
The sea will be slightly rough to rough, and initially rough in western areas.
Temperatures will rise to around 20°C inland and along the coasts, and near 8°C in higher mountainous areas.
Cooler night with frost risk
Tonight, conditions will turn mostly clear, although increased low cloud may develop locally, mainly along the coast.
Winds will remain mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, and locally north-easterly, light and occasionally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The sea will become slightly rough in the west and north, and calm to slightly rough in the south and east.
Temperatures will fall to around 10°C inland, 13°C along the coast, and near 4°C in higher mountainous areas, where frost may form locally.
Warmer trend by Friday
On Wednesday, most areas will see mainly clear conditions with temporary cloud. However, cloud build-up after midday may bring isolated showers or even a thunderstorm, especially in mountainous and inland regions.
Thursday and Friday will be mostly clear.
Temperatures are expected to rise gradually through Friday, reaching close to or slightly above average seasonal levels.
