Cyprus hit again by bad weather: Storms, hail, and snow are coming

A weak low-pressure system is currently affecting the region, while a more pronounced low-pressure system and relatively cold air mass are expected from tomorrow. Thin dust will be present in the atmosphere until tomorrow.

This afternoon, the weather will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy at times, with medium and high clouds that may bring isolated showers. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms, initially in the west and later in other areas. Winds will be variable, light and at times locally moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 11°C inland, about 13°C on the coast, and 7°C in the higher mountains.

Tomorrow, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may fall during storms, while snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains. Winds will initially be variable, light to moderate (3 to 4 Beaufort), gradually becoming southwesterly to westerly and strong (5 Beaufort), and at times on windward coasts very strong to near gale force (6 to 7 Beaufort). The sea will be rough. Temperatures will rise to around 20°C inland and on the coast, and about 12°C in the higher mountains.

On Monday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be periods of increased cloud cover, which around midday and early afternoon may bring isolated showers, mainly in mountainous areas.

Temperatures are expected to gradually rise slightly by Wednesday, though they will remain below average for the season.
