A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery that took place on the night of Saturday, April 25, targeting a 20-year-old man.
According to police, the suspect was identified during an investigation by the Famagusta CID (TAE), leading to the issuance of a court warrant for his arrest. He was located and detained on Sunday afternoon shortly before 6:30pm and remains in custody to assist with inquiries.
Victim attacked at knifepoint
Investigations show that around 10pm on April 25, the victim was walking in the Ayia Napa area when he was allegedly attacked by an unknown man.
The attacker reportedly threatened the 20-year-old with a knife and stole cash and his mobile phone. During an attempt to resist the assault, the victim sustained an injury to his left hand from the knife.
The injured man was transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital, where he received treatment and was later discharged.
Police continue their investigation into the Ayia Napa robbery, with the suspect remaining in custody as inquiries proceed.
