Pakistan defense minister criticizes Israel, response from Tel Aviv

Date:

Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, described Israel as “evil and a curse for humanity” in a post on X, accusing it of committing “genocide” in Lebanon while peace negotiations are ongoing.

“Innocent civilians are being killed by Israel, first in Gaza Strip, then in Iran and now in Lebanon. The bloodshed continues unabated,” he said, adding: “I hope and pray that the people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land in order to rid themselves of European Jews burn in hell.”

In his full post, Asif stated:

“Israel is evil and a curse for humanity. While peace talks are being held in Islamabad (referring to the expected negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan), genocide is taking place in Lebanon. Innocent civilians are being killed by Israel, first in Gaza, then in Iran and now in Lebanon. The bloodshed continues unabated. I hope and pray that those who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to rid themselves of European Jews burn in hell.”

Strong response from Israel

Israel issued a sharp response, with the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating:
“The call by Pakistan’s Defense Minister for the destruction of Israel is outrageous. This is not a statement that can be tolerated by any government, let alone one that claims to be a neutral mediator for peace.”
