New wave of air raids and missile fire
The Israel-Iran conflict intensified overnight, as Israeli forces launched a new wave of airstrikes across Iran following the rejection of a proposed ceasefire.
According to an official military statement, Israeli forces carried out aerial raids targeting infrastructure in Tehran and other areas across the country. The strikes come amid ongoing hostilities in the wider Israel-Iran conflict, which continues to destabilise the region.
At the same time, Iranian missiles were launched towards Israel, triggering air defence systems to intercept the threat. Sirens were activated in the early hours, before the alert was lifted shortly after.
Explosions reported in Tehran
Iranian media reported strong explosions in Tehran and nearby Karaj during the night, although no further details were immediately provided.
The escalating Israel-Iran conflict has also spread beyond both countries. In northern Iraq’s Kurdistan region, two civilians were killed when an explosive-laden drone, reportedly originating from Iran, crashed into their home.
Local authorities condemned the incident as a violation of international law and described it as a potential war crime.
Regional tensions spread further
Saudi Arabia’s military announced it intercepted seven ballistic missiles targeting the eastern part of the kingdom, with debris falling near energy infrastructure. Damage assessments are ongoing.
Meanwhile, explosions were also reported near Erbil airport in Iraq, where international coalition forces are based. Air defence systems intercepted additional missiles aimed at the US consulate in the area.
Iraq has been increasingly drawn into the Israel-Iran conflict, with Iran-aligned groups targeting US interests and facing retaliatory strikes attributed to the United States and Israel.
Diplomatic tensions and warnings
The US embassy in Baghdad accused Iran-linked militias of carrying out attacks on diplomatic facilities, warning that Washington would not hesitate to defend its personnel if Iraqi authorities fail to act.
US military helicopters have reportedly conducted strikes against armed groups aligned with Tehran since the conflict began.
Iran, for its part, dismissed recent statements by US President Donald Trump, who warned that the country could be “destroyed in a night”, insisting such rhetoric would not affect its military operations.
Calls for diplomatic solution
Qatar’s prime minister condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure “from any side”, calling for a comprehensive and lasting diplomatic solution to end the crisis.
He also criticised Iran’s actions in the region, warning of risks to regional security and urging renewed efforts to resolve the conflict through diplomacy.
The Israel-Iran conflict continues to escalate, raising fears of a broader regional confrontation.
