New healthcare units inaugurated

President Nikos Christodoulides emphasised that health is a fundamental human right and that the government has an obligation to ensure access to quality, safe, and humane healthcare services. He made the remarks during the inauguration of the Emergency Department (TAEP), the Short-Term Care Unit, and the Infectious Diseases Unit at Paphos Hospital.

Continuous healthcare improvement

Christodoulides noted that projects like these demonstrate that the government’s commitment to improving healthcare is more than mere promises. “This is a continuous and steady path of enhancement, with a clear focus on people,” he said.

Ensuring equitable access

“Following our plans consistently, we aim for a healthcare system that fully meets societal needs and citizens’ expectations, without exclusions,” the President added.

He also highlighted progress on the planned new Polis Chrysochous Hospital, describing it as a major project that will address the needs of the wider region’s residents and reduce pressure on Paphos General Hospital.

Commitment to remote communities

Christodoulides recalled his recent visit to the remote Tillyria region, noting the strong anticipation among locals for the new hospital in Polis Chrysochous. “Our goal is for citizens to enjoy the same healthcare services, whether they live in Nicosia, Paphos, or remote Tillyria,” he concluded.
