Migrant detention centre opens in Limnes

First section becomes operational

The first section of the Pre-Removal Migrant Detention Centre in Limnes became operational on Sunday, with the full transfer of detainees from Menogeia already completed, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order confirmed.

According to the Ministry’s announcement, this marks a “significant step in upgrading state infrastructure, strengthening operational management of migration and immediately relieving existing facilities.”

Modern facilities to enhance management and rights

The Ministry stated that it is proceeding with a plan to establish modern facilities that ensure order, functionality, and respect for rights. The new centre aims to increase the State’s ability to respond effectively to ongoing migration challenges.
