Operations suspended at 11 livestock units in Pergamos

Date:

The operation of eleven livestock units in Pergamos has been suspended following a decision by the Veterinary Services, in order to prevent the distribution of milk from units operating illegally in the Buffer Zone and the British Bases to dairies in the government-controlled areas.

Speaking to state radio, the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andreas Gregoriou, said the suspension will remain in force until the necessary inspections are completed and the findings of the ongoing investigation are issued.

According to Mr. Gregoriou, the aim is to determine whether the livestock units comply with Cypriot legislation. He added that some units appear to have been identified as unregistered.
