Israeli airstrike kills IRGC naval commander

Date:

An Israeli strike has reportedly killed Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz.

In a recorded statement, Katz said the Israeli Defence Forces carried out a “precise and lethal operation” overnight, eliminating Tangsiri along with senior naval officials.

High-ranking IRGC leadership hit

Alireza Tangsiri, a senior figure within the IRGC naval command, was among those killed in the strike, which Israel described as a targeted operation against key military leadership.

The strike marks a significant escalation, as it directly targets high-level Iranian military officials linked to regional operations.

Rising tensions in the region

The Israeli strike comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with ongoing hostilities and military exchanges increasing the risk of broader regional escalation.

There has been no immediate confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding the reported deaths.
