Cyprus President welcomes ceasefire in call with Lebanese PM

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon during a telephone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday.

According to a written statement by government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, President Christodoulides underscored Cyprus’ readiness to assist in any way required. As the closest EU member state to the region and a nation with strong ties to all regional players, Cyprus is positioned to play a pivotal role in the agreement’s implementation and any related matters, he noted.

Prime Minister Mikati thanked President Christodoulides for Cyprus’ ongoing interest and engagement, outlining details of the ceasefire agreement and its monitoring mechanisms. The two leaders agreed to continue their frequent communication, further solidifying their cooperation amid the evolving regional dynamics.
