Talks underway over long-term solutions
The Pame Express service will continue operating despite serious driver shortages, Cyprus Public Transport (CPT) announced, adding that consultations with the Ministry of Transport are ongoing to find long-term solutions.
In a statement, CPT said it accepted an invitation from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for a high-priority meeting aimed at addressing the lack of professional drivers and discussing the company’s overall operations.
Service to remain for now
As a sign of goodwill and commitment to cooperation with the state, the company said it decided to maintain the Pame Express service, while warning that the current situation cannot continue for a long period.
“Despite the extreme operational challenges we face today, our commitment remains firm, with the goal of delivering short-term results for our passengers,” the company said.
Focus on traffic reduction in Nicosia
CPT stressed that its main objective remains the reduction of congestion and the improvement of quality of life in Nicosia. The company noted that with support from the ministry through legislative measures and infrastructure improvements, such as dedicated bus lanes, it remains optimistic about the long-term success of the project.
The company also apologised for any inconvenience caused to passengers, stating that the continuation of the Pame Express service reflects its commitment to the community and the public interest.
