Skies open: heavy rainfall and thunderstorms

Cyprus was hit by severe weather this morning, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms affecting several areas.

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning, which came into effect at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and will remain in force until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the warning, a combination of rain, isolated thunderstorms and strengthened northeasterly winds is expected to affect the island at intervals.

Videos showing the intense rainfall from across Cyprus have been widely circulating online.
