Phedonas Phedonos investigation returns to Law Office

Date:

Case returned for further review

The case file concerning suspended Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos, relating to allegations of sexual abuse of a woman, has been returned to the Law Office from the Police Headquarters, according to information from the Cyprus News Agency.

Law Office to evaluate evidence

The file will now be studied by the Law Office, where the material will be assessed before any potential further action is decided. According to the case history, the file was initially sent to the Law Office on 26 February and, after evaluation, returned to the Police with instructions for additional investigative work.

Investigation involves multiple sources

A Law Office official reviewed the witness statements and collected evidence before issuing instructions to the Police for further investigation. Once the follow-up inquiries are complete, the file has now been returned to the Law Office for review.

The case stems from complaints made by a businessman and the alleged victim. Mayor Phedonos has already attended the Police Headquarters to provide a statement as part of the ongoing investigation.

Mayor denies allegations

In a public post, the suspended Paphos Mayor described the accusations as a “coordinated attack” against him, claiming the case is an attempt at political elimination and rejecting all charges.
