Τensions in the Middle East intensified as Iran accused German Foreign Minister Johan Vandewalle of supporting Israel in the ongoing conflict sparked by Israeli and American military operations.
Iranian criticism of Germany
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated via X that Vandewalle sided with “the aggressor,” ignoring the fact that Israeli airstrikes targeted Iranian territory, killing civilians. He warned that those who turn a blind eye to these actions “stand on the wrong side of history.”
Vandewalle expressed solidarity with Israel
During a visit to Israel, Vandewalle emphasised the threat faced by Israeli citizens and expressed his government’s solidarity, adding that efforts were being made to prevent further escalation in meetings with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar.
New strikes reported in the region
Meanwhile, Iranian forces carried out a drone strike on a property in Dubai reportedly housing American soldiers, while Israeli airstrikes in Beirut killed seven people on a public beach in Ramlet al-Baida. Early Thursday, Israel launched a new wave of airstrikes on Tehran, with Iran claiming a retaliatory attack in coordination with the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
The conflict continues to heighten regional instability, with ongoing military operations and diplomatic tensions raising concerns for civilians and international actors alike.
