Fire Service: Fires in mountainous Limassol were malicious

Date:

Two fires broke out on Sunday in mountainous Limassol, with authorities believing they were caused deliberately.

In a post, Cyprus Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said the second fire occurred in the area of Anogyra. It was quickly extinguished by the local authority despite the mobilization of the Fire Service.

He added that the first fire started early in the morning between Omodos and Mandria.

According to Kettis, the conditions in the area do not favor the easy outbreak of fires. This strengthens the suspicion that the incidents were malicious.

He also called on the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

“Even the smallest piece of information can be important. We love our country and it is up to all of us to protect it,” he said.
