President Nikos Christodoulides told entrepreneurs on Monday night that the projects digital citizen and the rebranding of Cyprus which are underway will modernise the state and assist in attracting investments for the benefit of the economy and society in general.
Delivering a speech at the 11th “CCCI Business Leader Awards” ceremony he said that on Wednesday in the context of the 2nd Intergovernmental Summit with Greece, the government will unveil the final form of the implementation of the digital citizen. He further said that the implementation of a targeted communication and public relations strategy of the Republic of Cyprus (“rebranding”) with a focus on international markets is expected to begin before the end of 2024.
He said that reducing bureaucracy and modernisation of the state services will lead to more effective operation of state departments for the benefit of citizens and businesses.
The President also said that by December 15 the digital assistant project will be in place, accessible through the new platform gov.cy.
This is a productive artificial intelligence tool that will provide answers to citizens through a conversation, he explained.
In his speech President Christodoulides noted that the creation of a stable business environment contributes to Cyprus’ credibility adding that the rebranding of Cyprus will upgrade the country’s image in the international business and investment community but also in tourist and education sectors.
He explained the benefits of a stable and sound fiscal environment, adding that Cyprus is expected to have the third highest growth rate among the eurozone countries in 2024 with a rate of 3.8%, noting that the unemployment rate in the first half of the year was almost at full employment levels, at approximately 5.2%, for the first time since 2009, while for 2025 it is expected to be below 5%.
He referred to the inflation levels, the forecasts for a significant primary fiscal surplus but also the upgrades of Cyprus by rating agencies.
The President also referred to the reforms regarding the tax system and the Draghi Competitiveness Report regarding large capital investments, trade policy, climate change and security.
He spoke of the strategic dialogue with the US and also praised the “Business Leader Awards” institution by CCCI which rewards leading personalities in the field of entrepreneurship.
