EU CSDP seminar: Capacity building for crisis management

Challenges related to the development of civil-military and crisis management capabilities are the focus of the 2nd module of the 20th EU High Level Seminar on Common Security and Defence Policy, under the name “Jose Cutileiro”, which takes place from 25 to 29 November in Larnaca, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the seminar is co-organized by the Security and Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the Austrian Defence Academy under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College.

According to the Ministry, a total of 80 senior military officers, diplomats and officials from 21 EU Member States (Cyprus, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, and European institutions) and European institutions, as well as representatives of CSDP missions and operations are participating in the seminar.

It is added that the seminar focuses on the challenges related to the development of civil-military and crisis management capabilities, while also offering a deeper understanding of the efforts being made to strengthen military and civilian capabilities, as well as issues related to European cooperation in the fields of armaments and procurement.

The opening of the seminar was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Konstantinos Kombos and the ambassador of Austria Susanne Bachfischer, the statement concludes.
