Trump says “it’s too late” for US-Iran talks

Date:

The conflict in Middle East intensified this week as President Donald Trump stated that it is now “too late” for Iran to negotiate amid ongoing strikes across the Gulf.

Trump: “Too late” for Iran

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Their air defence, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late!’” The statement underscores the US administration’s stance amid rapidly escalating hostilities in the region.

Israeli strikes target Tehran and Beirut

Israel has conducted heavy attacks on Iran’s Presidential Office and the Supreme National Security Council in Tehran, as well as sites in Beirut, causing widespread destruction. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported that “numerous munitions” hit the Presidential Office, previously used by former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Rising casualties

The Red Crescent reports that at least 787 people have been killed in Iran since Saturday. Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRANA) note that 176 children are among the dead, highlighting the human toll of the conflict.

Expansion to Lebanon

Israeli troops have also been deployed to southern Lebanon in a major escalation. US embassy staff in Oman have been instructed to take cover due to the risk of further Iranian retaliation.

Regional implications

The continued strikes signal a deepening of the US-Israel-Iran conflict, raising concerns over wider instability in the Middle East and prompting diplomatic and security measures across the Gulf.
