19 Cyprus-flagged ships in the Persian Gulf

Date:

The Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Shipping has confirmed that Cypriot ships in the Gulf and their crews are safe amid ongoing regional tensions in the Persian Gulf.

Nineteen ships currently in the Gulf

According to the Ministry, 19 vessels under the Cypriot flag are currently operating in the Persian Gulf. Most of these ships provide specialised or auxiliary maritime services and are active in the region on a permanent basis.

Continuous monitoring and safety measures

The Ministry has been closely monitoring the situation from the outset and maintains constant communication with the operators of Cypriot-flagged vessels in the area.

A circular issued on 28 February provided specific safety recommendations for ships and crews, highlighting maritime security as the Ministry’s top priority. Authorities emphasised that the situation is under 24-hour surveillance to ensure the protection of both vessels and human life at sea.
