Efforts underway to repatriate 600 Cypriots from Gulf countries

Date:

Authorities are working to repatriate approximately 600 Cypriot citizens currently in Gulf countries, competent sources told CNA on Monday.

Repatriation plans in progress

According to the information provided, around 600 Cypriots are located across Gulf states. Some are permanent residents, while others were visiting for holidays.

Efforts are underway to organise their return to Cyprus once airports in the affected countries reopen. These efforts include arrangements for chartered aircraft to transport the stranded citizens safely back home.

Support measures in the UAE

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates issued a circular stating that accommodation costs for individuals affected by the current situation would be covered by UAE authorities.

Cypriot citizens in the UAE can contact the dedicated hotline at +97126576283 for further information, while updates are also available through announcements by the Cypriot Embassy in the UAE.

Registration through Connect2CY

Citizens are strongly encouraged to register on the Connect2CY online platform (https://www.connect2cy.gov.cy) and ensure all personal details are accurately completed – especially contact phone numbers and current location – to facilitate communication and coordination.

Authorities continue monitoring developments closely as regional tensions impact air travel across the Gulf.
