Erhürman accuses President Christodoulides of “manipulation games”

Date:

Denying media manipulation

Ahead of his meeting with Christodoulides, the Turkish Cypriot leader responded to a report by the newspaper Fileleftheros, which suggested that the President of the Republic would raise the operation of the Rizokarpaso school.

He stated that attempts to portray the visit as “requested by them and granted by us” are misleading and lack seriousness, maturity, and honesty. He emphasised that he will not engage in media-based accusations or games.

Planning the visit

The leader explained that the visit to the Rizokarpaso school, attended by Greek Cypriot students, had been planned 10–15 days in advance. “Our team was arranging the programme. Visiting a school in Rizokarpaso is entirely natural for us, so we made no special effort to keep it secret,” he said.

He added that officials in the Republic of Cyprus had inquired about the visit 3–4 days earlier. At that time, since the schedule was not finalised, they were told the visit was “not yet on the programme.” Once confirmed, the school was officially notified, as was the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan High School in the area, which will also be visited.

Transparency in communication

The Turkish Cypriot leader stressed that, given the prior inquiry from the Republic of Cyprus, there was nothing to hide, and the official notification was provided once the schedule was arranged.
