Power cuts were reported in more than 20 areas nationwide on Wednesday, after strong winds caused multiple electricity faults from early morning.
The adverse weather conditions, particularly the severe winds sweeping across the island, triggered widespread disruptions to electricity supply.
Multiple faults reported
According to the spokesperson of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Christina Papadopoulou, intense winds led to numerous localised faults and power cuts affecting more than 16 areas across the country.
A medium-voltage fault in Nicosia impacted Dali and Nisou, while a separate medium-voltage fault in Larnaca affected Dekeleia, Ormideia, and Xylotymbou.
Crews working to restore supply
Repair crews from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus are working to fix the faults and restore electricity to affected areas as quickly as possible.
No official timeline has yet been given for full restoration, as weather conditions continue to create challenges.
