A 40-year-old Nicosia resident has been arrested under a court warrant and remanded in custody in connection with a building fire in Nicosia investigation, authorities reported yesterday.
Fire extinguished by locals
The incident occurred earlier yesterday morning, when police received a report of a fire in a building in Nicosia. Neighbours managed to extinguish the fire before the arrival of the Fire Service.
Investigations at the scene
Police investigations revealed that the fire had been deliberately set using an accelerant. The blaze caused minor damage to both the interior and exterior of the building.
Evidence and ongoing inquiries
During the investigation, testimony was obtained implicating the arrested man. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department continues its inquiries into the case.
