German university to train doctors in hepatology

Date:

Health Minister, Michalis Damianos, travels to Germany on Sunday to attend a signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement in the field of hepatology, between Cyprus’ State Health Services Organisation and the University Clinic of Tubingen.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, the agreement, which will be signed on Monday morning, concerns the training of two Cypriot doctors in hepatology, with the aim of strengthening the monitoring of transplant patients without requiring their constant travel abroad for this reason. The agreement was made possible after a series of intensive efforts and coordinated actions by the Ministry of Health, the press release said.

It also noted that the training of the two Cypriot doctors, which will last one year, is expected to resolve the issue faced as regards monitoring and treating liver transplant patients.

Damianos, who will be accompanied by the Health Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Christina Yiannaki, will return to Cyprus on Monday.
