Paphos raid: Four arrested, items seized

A major Paphos police raid unfolded on Monday night in the centre of the city’s Old Town, causing concern among residents and visitors in the area.

According to SIGMA correspondent Marios Ignatiou, four police vehicles carrying members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad arrived at the scene and entered a premises where a private party with patrons was taking place.

Police moved quickly to block surrounding streets, while armed officers guarded access points to the wider area. Authorities maintained a strong and visible presence as the operation continued.

Cash and weapon seized

During the inspections, officers arrested a 42-year-old man for the flagrant offences of illegal possession of property and illegal possession of an offensive weapon. Authorities found and seized a metal knuckle-duster and €3,000 in cash, for which no satisfactory explanation was provided.

Police also arrested three additional individuals aged 45, 29 and 30 after discovering cash sums in their possession without satisfactory justification. Officers confiscated €3,000 from the 45-year-old, €5,000 from the 29-year-old, and €12,810 from the 30-year-old.

Licensing violations identified

Document checks revealed that the premises operated without the required licences for operation, sale of alcoholic beverages, and music broadcasting. As a result, police issued a written report against the 63-year-old owner.

Investigations remain ongoing.
