Nikos Loizidis, president of the ISOTITA police union, launched a fierce organised crime police critique on “Protoselido”, highlighting top brass absence at a critical briefing.
He noted four assistant chiefs, a deputy chief, and the chief failed to attend, save for Larnaca’s police director – signalling disdain for provinces and a “two-police” divide: elite HQ issuing orders, and frontline provincial forces bearing the brunt.
Blames rhetoric over action
Loizidis criticised Police for shifting blame, urging citizens and mayors to “help” while failing to enforce law as the state authority.
He argued no clear line exists between petty crime and organised networks, citing Larnaca where one patrol car covered the province amid “immediate response” claims.
Hidden incidents exposed
Recent videos revealed incidents, but Loizidis questioned how many more occurred last year undisclosed to mask weaknesses.
He demanded leadership accountability, not hiding behind rank-and-file officers.
Decade-long neglect
Leaders admitted 450 days ago no real reorganisation for decades; politicians dismissed union organigram proposals as populism, now seeking talks “at five to twelve”.
Loizidis warned Police Chief Fytiris is being misled amid cabinet shake-up, with officers under threat and serious cases concealed.

“We lose 5-0 to the mafia now,” he said, urging a Presidential summit with timelines.
