Date:

Police made four more arrests in Peyia, as part of the probe into the premeditated murder of a 41-year-old man on Saturday night in Paphos.

The suspects – aged 34, 31, 25, and 28 – face charges of conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour, carrying a knife, malicious damage, possession of a weapon to cause terror, and carrying an offensive instrument.

They will be formally charged and released to be summoned later.

29-year-old in custody

A 29-year-old arrested early Sunday remains in eight-day remand over the Peyia premeditated murder case.

He faces charges of premeditated murder, acts aiming to cause grievous bodily harm, and carrying a knife.

Social media sparks bloody clash

Paphos Operations Assistant Police Director Michalis Nikolaou stated the bloody incident stemmed from personal differences arising from immoral social media posts.

New warrants followed testimony emerging during the investigation.

Timeline of Saturday night chaos

Around 23:40 Saturday, Police received reports of a brawl at a Peyia residence, where they found the 29-year-old suspect outside his home and his damaged vehicle.

At 00:15, Paphos Police stopped a car on Kennedy Avenue carrying five people, including the injured 41-year-old Bulgarian with a knife still embedded in his right abdomen.

A 28-year-old relative of the victim had head wounds and abrasions, reportedly from being hit by a car.

Motive and confession emerge

The group had travelled from Limassol to Peyia to resolve a misunderstanding with the suspect.

The victim allegedly damaged the suspect’s vehicle, leading to the fatal stabbing.

The 29-year-old admitted stabbing the victim during questioning but claimed no intent to kill.

Autopsy confirms cause of death

A legal autopsy on Monday by forensic pathologist Dr Nikos Charalambous confirmed death by internal haemorrhage and haemorrhagic shock from stab and incised wounds.
