Key figures briefed and testimonies
The Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, after meeting the Police Chief yesterday, received updates on the probe’s progress. It covers not only video creation but also statements made and by whom, regarding possible crimes.
Businessman George Chrysochos, featured in the video, gave deposition at Police Headquarters this afternoon, following Lakotrypis and Charalambous testimonies.
Agencies’ positions clarified
The Independent Anti-Corruption Authority clarified it cannot investigate under current law once criminal probes by Law Office or Police begin. It notes the video underwent detailed review in yesterday’s session, amid strong political and public calls for suo moto action.
Police Spokesman told SIGMA investigations follow a specific, undisclosed direction as data evolves constantly.
The Transparency Commissioner stated the Authority began minute-by-minute analysis of the video yesterday morning. “We act neither hastily nor idly. We will consult Law Office; if aspects merit complementary probe, we proceed.”
