10 arrested in police operations last night

Cyprus Police continued targeted preventive operations last night with enhanced presence at key urban points. The operations aim to prevent serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order.

Police arrested ten persons for various offences during these operations.

Arrest breakdown

  • Four persons residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.
  • Two persons related to family violence cases.
  • One person for failure to appear in court.
  • Two persons for possession of burglary tools.
  • One person for driving under alcohol influence causing a collision (property damage only).

Extensive vehicle and premises checks

During the night, police stopped 397 vehicles for inspection and checked 97 persons onboard. Authorities conducted 30 premises inspections to deter and suppress violations.

Traffic controls resulted in 147 citations for various violations, including eight for driving under alcohol influence. Police conducted 189 alcohol tests on drivers and impounded 19 vehicles during crash investigations.

Ongoing prevention strategy

These operations form part of Police’s broad, continuous, and intensified preventive plan. Enhanced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate action across all districts aim to prevent crime and boost public safety.
