Targeted police operations – Three overnight arrests in Cyprus

Date:

Police intensified dynamic, targeted preventive operations overnight Sunday with heightened presence at key urban spots to deter serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order across Cyprus.

These efforts resulted in three arrests island-wide. One individual faces charges for causing a road collision, drug possession, and driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. Two others were detained for illegal residence in the Republic and outstanding fines warrants.

Road incident probes also led to seizure of five vehicles.

Extensive checks and traffic enforcement

The same night saw broad inspections at multiple establishments to preempt and suppress violations. Over 650 road checks produced 197 traffic complaints, including 65 for speeding and 30 for traffic signal violations.

These actions form part of a broad, ongoing, and escalating police prevention plan featuring increased patrols, focused checks, and swift responses in all districts to curb crime and boost public safety.
