Paphos fatal crash claims 23-year-old motorcyclist’s life

A new tragedy strikes the roads in Paphos district. Police report that 23-year-old Petko Svetlozar, of Bulgarian origin, loses his life in a traffic collision.

The crash occurs at the traffic-light controlled junction of Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue and Andreas Vlami Street. Under circumstances under investigation, the motorcycle ridden by the 23-year-old collides with a car driven by a 41-year-old man, who has a 45-year-old woman as passenger.

Emergency response and outcome

Police members rush to the scene for examinations. An ambulance crew transports the 23-year-old to Paphos General Hospital, where he later succumbs to his injuries.

The 45-year-old passenger also transfers to Paphos General Hospital by ambulance. She receives medical examinations and treatment before discharge.

Driver arrest and tests

As part of investigations into the fatal road collision, police arrest the 41-year-old car driver under a court warrant.

Authorities also arrest him in connection with illegal stay in the Republic’s territory.

The 41-year-old undergoes an alcohol influence driving test, which returns negative. However, he tests positive in a preliminary drug influence driving test. Officers take samples for final laboratory narcotest.
