Avvakoum: “Orphaned by the Church – Had a Pakistani done this…”

Date:

Monk Nektarios expressed strong reactions following the decision of the Six-Member Synodal Court to uphold the initial ruling against him and his fellow monks.

He stated that, “We filed an appeal following the intervention of many Synod members.”

He criticised the initial decision as unjust and commented, “We came here to be mocked, simply to strengthen their position because a crow does not pluck out another crow’s eye.”

Nektarios declared, “We assert our innocence in these slanders and injustices, which were solely intended to put the Holy Synod in a difficult position. Everyone knows well that these actions were orchestrated by our Metropolitan.”

He emphasised, “God does not abandon anyone. Even if people cast us out, including the Church itself, which has left us orphans, we believe in Divine Justice and not human justice. We will start again from scratch, united as a brotherhood with our fathers.”

Finally, he called on the state to take appropriate action, saying, “Had a Pakistani committed the crimes that the Metropolitan has committed, he would have been convicted.”
