Nicosia Municipality announced that seven streets in the city centre will remain closed for four months to allow construction under the project “Suitable Reconstruction of Various Roads in Nicosia – Contract 23 City Centre”.
The affected roads are: Voulgari, Kalavryton, Naxou, Orfeos, Kritis, Kypranoros and Filippiados.
Works start on 11 December 2025 on Voulgari, part of Kalavryton and part of Naxou. Works on part of Orfeos begin on 2 January 2026.
The project includes construction of a new stormwater drainage system, full reconstruction of pavements and road surfaces, new traffic arrangements and improved signage, creation of on-street parking spaces, and upgrading of all public utility networks.
Nicosia Municipality urges drivers to pay extra attention, follow temporary signage and diversions, and thanks affected residents and businesses in advance for their patience and cooperation.
The project is part of the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan for Cyprus and is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU).
