Israel claims strikes on over 100 “terrorist targets” in Lebanon

Date:

The Israeli military stated on Wednesday that it struck more than 100 “terrorist targets” in Lebanon on Tuesday and “neutralised” two Hezbollah commanders over the weekend.

The targets included “launchers, weapons storage facilities, command centres, and military structures,” according to the military’s announcement.

The statement coincided with the visit of US envoy Amos Hochstein to Lebanon as part of efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

The military also noted that “on Sunday, the [air force] neutralised the commanders of Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile and operations unit in the coastal sector,” who were “responsible for terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.”

The Israeli military added that its forces continued conducting “limited, local, targeted raids” in southern Lebanon.

Israel expanded its war efforts from Gaza to Lebanon in late September, nearly a year after the Gaza conflict triggered by Hamas’s attack on 7 October 2023.

In support of its Palestinian ally, Hezbollah launched low-intensity strikes on Israel after the attack, forcing around 60,000 Israelis to flee their homes.
