Dangerous roads in Cyprus due to bad weather

Date:

Landslides and dense fog affect traffic on mountain roads in the Nicosia and Limassol districts as of around 7:00 am on Tuesday, 9 December.

Landslides block routes

Rock and earth falls occurred at several points along the Kambos–Kykkos–Pedoulas and Kambos–Orkontas roads following heavy rainfall. Cleaning crews are on site to clear the debris.

Thick fog reduces visibility

Dense fog currently covers the areas of Kambos, Kykkos, Pedoulas, Kakopetria, and Prodromos. Visibility remains very low across the wider road network in these regions.

Fog also blankets Malounta, Palaichori, and Agros, severely restricting visibility on the Malounta–Palaichori–Agros road and surrounding routes.

Drivers should exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, keep a safe distance from vehicles ahead, and keep their headlights on.

No particular problems are reported on the rest of the road network.
