Iran issues warnings to EU nations over nuclear programme

Date:

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned three European powers against submitting a critical resolution regarding Iran to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ahead of its board meeting, which begins on Wednesday.

During a discussion with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, Araghchi “strongly condemned the decision by the three countries—Germany, France, and the United Kingdom—to submit the draft resolution,” cautioning that it “will only complicate matters further,” according to a statement issued by the Ministry on Wednesday.

A diplomatic source told AFP that Western countries formally submitted the new resolution on Iran to the IAEA on Wednesday.

“The text was formally submitted just before midnight on Tuesday,” a diplomatic source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP. A second diplomatic source confirmed the information.
