Akaki: 35-year-old arrested for drunk driving after crash

Seven times over the limit

Around 20:50 on Saturday night, police responded to a two-car collision on Makarios III Avenue in Akaki.

Officers breathalysed both drivers:
  • 64-year-old: 8μg (below limit)
  • 35-year-old: final reading 157μg (legal limit 22μg)

The 35-year-old was arrested on the spot for the automatic offence. He sustained minor injuries and was taken under police escort to Nicosia General Hospital, treated and discharged.

He remains in custody. Peristerona Police Station continues the investigation.
